Stories .. why we are involved .....
Junior Achievement is about volunteers igniting and engaging the student’s mind. As a volunteer and a parent I can attest to the power of these programs.
My daughter was diagnosed with ADD at the age of 9. She found it challenging to pay attention in school....things learned where easily lost and not retained. She came home from school one day and proceeded to tell me to the very detail the things she learned that day. She had even remembered the name of the guest speaker……Jasmine Jo. Jasmine Jo I thought....that name sounded familiar. Jasmine is a TD Bank employee who volunteers with Junior Achievement. She had been in my daughter’s class that day teaching a program called Economics for Success. This I thought...has got to be a good thing.....sign me up! If this program could impact one child then that was my inspiration to try and make an impact on other children.
I have been a volunteer for Junior Achievement for 3 years and am now on the board of directors for Junior Achievement Guelph and Wellington. I have delivered over 8 EFS Programs which equals approximately 200 students.

JA provides students with a great opportunity to learn from professionals in the community about managing their money. It allows students to practice skills that they will use for the rest of their life and help them to plan responsibly in order meet their goals. The JA volunteers are enthusiastic and dedicated members of our community with expertise in different areas of finance! JA programs are a great opportunity for students of all ages!

When participants, teachers and mentors all indicate that they find the content of the various programs extremely pertinent and ask you to come back, and when you see significant positive changes in participants over the course of a program, then it makes your contribution and the programs, all worthwhile.
